FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need my own instrument?
A: NO! We can lend you one. We have everything you need to learn your instrument, practice with your band, and play a show! You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own equipment and accessories if you have them but we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.
We also have a no-cost instrument loan program for basses, guitars, and keyboards during Camp week (and beyond!). Rock Camp has plenty of drum sets, amps, cords, and DJ records you can use while you are here, but these do not typically get checked out. We can also refer you to some rental shops and music stores around town.
Do you offer financial aid?
A: YES! Our financial aid is based on need. We try very hard to make sure Camp is accessible to all applicants! Please visit our programs section to download our financial aid form.
What is an Express Yourself Piece?
A: The Express Yourself Piece is electronic this year! For 2016 summer camp applications we have gone paperless, feel free to email RNRC4G@girlsrockcamp.org with more questions.
Do I have to like rock music?
A: NO! Rock ’n’ Roll is in our name, but we support all the ways folks want to “rock” — whatever that means to them! We teach, listen to, and love all sorts of music from rock to hip-hop, jazz to folk, pop to punk! Campers often invent their own genres for the week, like “songs about trees” and “I don’t care, I’m just here to have fun!”
Why girls only?
A: We want to eradicate all of the limiting myths about music and gender. Through lessons, mentorship, positive examples, and the shared experiences of the staff and volunteers, RnRC4G demonstrates that every genre of music, from the heaviest to the most delicate, and every technical job and creative endeavor in the music industry is available to any individuals who self-identify as female, trans (regardless of identity), or gender non-conforming who wants to explore it. We believe that by teaching these things, we can help individuals develop — musically, mentally, and emotionally — their own ideas of who and what they want to be. The enormous amount of community support given to campers at RnRC4G affords them a unique opportunity to express themselves in any way they wish.
Do you offer private lessons?
A: RnRC4G does not offer private lessons. However, we can point you in the direction of some amazing instructors that have been with us through the years.
What is your refund policy?
A: The policy of Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls is to follow the schedule below when refunding any portion of tuition that you paid toward attending our programs, excluding the $10 application processing fee.
